As BP watches its bill rise quickly for the oil spill, including $20 billion it is setting aside for claims, it could find the tally growing much faster in coming months if the United States Department of Justice files criminal charges against the company.
We await the final outcome of the civil and criminal process against BP and others. To say that it's complicated is an understatement. On the other hand, what about any criminal investigation for the deaths of the 11 workers killed with the oil platform exploded?
Yesterday, during the "We care about the small people" speech, wouldn't it have been wonderful if, during the press conference, the FBI had stepped up and arrested the BP executives present? I for one would love to see these individuals held responsible for their actions and treated like the "small people" for a change.
